  • kyoto - an inner zen / tokyo - collected chaos

an amazing trip taken alone. i met people along the way, and caught up with people from melbourne in tokyo, but was still mostly alone. and you know what? it wasn't bad at all. i think i can handle travelling alone

ok i know i've been procrastinating. but finally, here is a roundup of the recent trip to japan. i don't have adobe after having changed my laptop's hard disk, so no pretty layouts  and there are waaaay too many pictures for me to post everything up, but this is still a huge post. happy viewing! i'll put up the link to the photoalbums soon

  • the way you look at me

me and charlene talked over dinner at oriental spoon today, and the topic of relationships came up. how to test the strength of a relationship? i really think that it all boils down to this: that when it comes to making decisions, it's all about putting a value to things. say, whether the picture quality of a television is worth the money you're paying. whether the money you're paying for it can be better spent on another television.

and maybe more importantly, whether you really need that television or not. or maybe even how much you want it.

what really constitutes a relationship? love is never equal on both parts, tolerance can only take you so far, romance is overrated and barely surviving for that matter. some time ago, after a lot of thought, i thought love was about sacrifice and compromise.

it's just that sacrifice and compromise has to come naturally, willingly. not... at a price. not make you want to run in the other direction screaming.

in fact you know what, love is a lot harder to understand than we think it is. i don't think many of us actually reach that zenith of love; we easily scale the heights of lust, infatuation, obsession, delusion, seduction et all. love is overrated for the fact that people claim love so easily.

in the meantime, we play people for fools and are played for fools in return. it's all fair. no one ever said it was supposed to feel good.

    IN OTHER NEWS:

this comes pretty close to love.
